Photo of the Day : Day 200 New School
When I was a child my father would take me to the library every other day. During those times librarians would use rubber stamps to check in an out books. I would constantly see librarians walk around. These days, at least in Silicone Valley, there are machines like the one you see here, where as when the library is closed a sensor would read the R-fied chip in the book. The slot will open automatically and a conveyor belt would take in the book as the laser is scanning it in. And rather than stamps book are scanned, and paper with due dates are automatically printed. Late warnings and notices are automatically emailed to me. And there’s a little snazzy cafe inside the library! Maybe, in the next 20 years libraries will be compacted and digitized something like how the video stores have evolved into services like Red Box and Netflix. Only time will tell!
